As you can see from title of the post, WhatsApp has added an extra layer of security to its application to prevent user accounts from malicious activities i.e WhatsApp Two Step Verification. This feature was launched on last Friday i.e 10th Feb 2017.

WhatsApp said that “When you have the feature enabled, any attempt to verify your phone number on WhatsApp must be accompanied by the six-digit passcode that you choose.” This feature is available to all more than 1.2 billion users of Android, iOS and Windows.

  • Open WhatApp and tap on three dots at top right corner.
  • Goto Settings –> Accounts –> Two-step verification.
  • Tap on Enable
  • Enter 6 digit passcode which you’ll asked for when you register your phone number with WhatsApp.
  • Add an Email address to your account which will be used to reset your passcode if you forget it and safeguard your account.
  • Done.
